Entec is pleased to launch its latest video, a substantially updated edition of our showcase of Prefabricated Plant Rooms (PPR). We are on track to complete our 90th PPR by the end of 2026, and there’s so much new and interesting footage to share. The new video can be viewed at https://www.entec.co.nz/videos/.
Entec now has manufacturing capability for PPR’s in New Plymouth for the NZ market, and in Brisbane for the Australian market. The video includes footage of our brand-new manufacturing workshop in New Plymouth, with 750m2 of enclosed factory space and a further 750m2 of dedicated hard-stand. With Entec’s deep experience in the bespoke design and build of PPR’s for all types of applications, combined with our DNA as heavy industrial electrical installation experts and our locally-based design & engineering centre of excellence, this new facility is unrivalled in the NZ market.
We are also applying the principles of Lean manufacturing to minimise waste of all kinds, increase efficiency, maximise quality and (of massive importance) involve all of our people in improving our business processes. On display in the video are some of our lean initiatives, such as new portable electric hoists, portable tooling stations and cloud-based QAQC software, driven by mobile devices at the workface.
The video demonstrates some of our newer and more interesting builds, such as;
Type 1: Containerised
A double-width 40’ ISO containerised build to house emergency genset interconnection infrastructure for the NZ Defence Force. This is an example of our Type 1 Containerised style of PPR.
Type 2: Insulated Sandwich Panel
A bespoke-sized building comprising three separate rooms for the grid connection and site O&M requirements for a new solar farm; an amenities area, an LV room and a separate room for the MV switchgear. This is an example of our Type 2 Insulated Sandwich Panel style of PPR
Type 3: Steel Portal Frame
Three large buildings built to IL4 standard for a grid-scale BESS project; an MV Switchroom, an Equipment Room and a Control Room. These are examples of our Type 3 Steel Portal Frame style of PPR.
We also include footage of some of the typical features included in our PPR’s. These have evolved through the process of designing and building dozens of PPR’s over recent years, and by taking input in “lessons learnt” sessions with our own team members, clients and consultants. Examples include;
- Integral baseframe
- Inter-panel cable management and earthing
- Arc flash ducting
- Fire and security systems
- A wide array of switchboards, control panels and protection panels (either Entec-manufactured or client-issued if preferred)
