Entec expands into the Central North Island

We’re excited to announce the opening of our newest branch, located in Taupo – right in the middle of the North Island.

We have five instrumentation & electrical (I&E) staff based out of Taupo already, with short-term plans to add a further handful of experienced staff. The new office/workshop facility is also a great base to support the wider Entec team; we currently have around 8 I&E staff working on a geothermal power station project in Taupo, and a further 3 I&E staff installing fast EV chargers across a service station network around the central region.

Most of us think of Taupo as a lovely holiday location, with its lake, rivers, mountain-biking trails and proximity to the Tongariro National Park. There is also a large amount of industry and infrastructure in the region, and we are planning for our workload over the next few years to include the following industry sectors;

  • Renewable power generation; new plants and upgrade projects utilising geothermal, wind, solar and hydro resources
  • Manufacturing, storing and dispensing green hydrogen as a transport fuel
  • Decarbonising industry and transport; biomass boiler installations and electric vehicle charging infrastructure
  • Food, beverage and dairy processing; providing I&E maintenance and calibration services
  • Transmission and distribution assets for pipeline and bottled gas
  • Timber processing, pulp & paper and petrochemical plants.

And in addition to all of that, Taupo is also an excellent location from which we can provide more support to our many gas detection clients across the Bay of Plenty and Central North Island, providing service for our ever-growing fleet of portable and fixed-point gas detection systems.

Our new Taupo premises are brand-new, and located in the Rotokawa industrial area on the eastern side of the town. We have a large yard and lay-down area, a good-sized workshop and store, and generous office and meeting room facilities.
